Model answer
I'd say I have a friendly but fairly independent relationship with my neighbors. The people in the apartment next door are a couple with a young daughter, and we usually greet each other in the hallway. We sometimes have a quick chat about the weather, local shops, or building repairs, but we don't visit one another regularly. I think that balance suits me because it creates a sense of community without making anyone feel that they have to socialize all the time. One thing I appreciate is that we look out for each other in small ways. If a parcel arrives while I'm out, they are happy to keep it for me, and I have watered their plants when they were away. Those little gestures make the building feel safer and more welcoming. Of course, we try to be considerate about noise, especially in the evening, since sound travels easily through the walls. Overall, I wouldn't call us close friends, but we trust and respect one another, which is exactly what I want from a neighborly relationship.
