Model answer
In recent decades, the role of art in society has shifted dramatically. Historically, art was often commissioned by the elite or the church to convey power or religious narratives. Today, art has become far more accessible and democratic, largely due to digital platforms. Social media, for instance, allows artists to share their work globally without needing gallery representation. This has democratized the art world, giving voice to marginalized communities and diverse perspectives. Additionally, art now frequently serves as a tool for social activism, addressing issues like climate change, inequality, and political unrest. Public installations and street art have transformed urban spaces, making art part of everyday life rather than confining it to museums. While some lament the commercialization of art, I believe its evolution reflects a more inclusive and engaged society. Art no longer just represents beauty or wealth; it challenges, provokes, and connects people across boundaries. This dynamic role makes it more relevant than ever.
