Model answer

One period I find especially interesting is the Industrial Revolution, particularly its early years in Britain. I first learned about it at school, but I became more interested when I saw how quickly ordinary people's lives changed. Before that, most people lived in rural areas and worked on farms or in small workshops. Then factories grew, machines made production faster, and many families moved to crowded cities for work. What fascinates me is that this was not simply a story of progress. People could buy more affordable goods, but workers often faced long hours, low pay, and unsafe conditions. I think the period matters because it shaped the modern world in ways we still notice today. For example, it influenced where people live, how jobs are organized, and how technology affects society. If I could visit that time, I would want to see a factory and speak with workers, although I would not want to experience their working conditions myself.
