Model answer

I think the most effective change would be to make buses and trains more reliable, especially during the evening commute. In my area, service is fairly frequent at midday, but after about eight o’clock, some routes run only once every forty minutes. That makes it difficult for people to plan their trips, and a single delay can mean waiting a long time outside. For example, my neighbor works at a hospital and often finishes late. She would rather take the bus than drive, but she cannot risk being stranded after her shift, so she usually takes her car. If buses came more regularly in the evening, she and other workers could rely on them. I also think dependable service would benefit the whole community. More people might leave their cars at home, which could reduce traffic and pollution. In short, improving evening frequency would make public transport a practical choice, not merely a backup.
